pdf  The impact of faulting on thermal regime and catagenetic transformations of Mesozoic deposits, West Siberian plate

The results of thermal field study in the Mesozoic sedimentary cover of the West Siberian plate are provided, the patterns of the thermal field vertically and laterally transformation are presented. The essential role of the deep faults penetrating from the basement into the sedimentary cover in the formation of the temperature and catagenetic anomalies has been proved. It is shown that anomalies in the thermal field can serve as indicators of fluid-conducting deep faults and their distribution scope. The maps of the catagenetic anomalies distribution for each level of the Lower and Middle Jurassic sand sedimentation are made up on the basis of the organic matter catagenesis maps and the maps of disjunctive tectonics of the West Siberian plate. The relationship between most anomalies and rift gutter areas, deep faults and their cross-intersections has been established. The data obtained may be taken into account in the forecast of oil and gas accumulation zones in the Mesozoic sediments of West Siberian plate.
