pdf Methodology for integrating estimates of hydrocarbon resources on the example of the Lower Cretaceous complexes of the Yenisey-Khatanga oil and gas region
Methods of probabilistic estimation of the magnitude and structure (distribution over clusters of different sizes) of free gas resources and coordination of estimates obtained by various methods are proposed. The methods were tested on the example of the Lower Cretaceous complex of the Yenisey-Khatanga oil and gas region. Based on the generalization of available information on the identified accumulations, a probabilistic assessment of the magnitude and structure of free gas resources is given for the first time. The localization of the obtained estimates was carried out with an accuracy of the boundaries of individual oil and gas bearing areas. A probabilistic prediction of the magnitude of undeveloped hydrocarbon clusters is performed.

pdf Estimation of the probability distribution of the number of undetected accumulations in hydrocarbon fields
The probabilistic distribution of hydrocarbon fields by the number of accumulations in them is an important characteristic of the resource structure of a petroleum bearing basin and can be used to predict the effectiveness of geological exploration. An analytical approach to assessing the distribution of the number of undiscovered accumulations is proposed. On the example of the West Siberian petroleum province, based on the empirically found unconditional distribution of fields by the number of oil accumulations in them, the conditional probabilities of the presence of a given number of accumulations in the field were calculated, provided that some of them have already been identified.

An idealized scheme for the occurrence of the hydrocarbon fields distribution by the number of accumulations in them is considered. As a mathematical model of the random distribution of the initial set of accumulations over the territory of the basin, a stationary Poisson point field is taken. It is shown that the model distribution thus obtained is approximated with a high degree of reliability by a power law, which coincides with the approximation of this distribution for real petroleum provinces. It is argued that the power-law nature of the model distribution of fields by the number of accumulations in them follows from the very definition of a fields as a group of accumulations that have full or partial overlap of contours in projection onto the earth's surface. Violation of the power dependence of the distribution occurs at too low or too high values of the intensity of the Poisson field of accumulations.

Petroleum basin hydrocarbon accumulation distribution law constitutes mathematical basement of quantitative prognosis of hydrocarbon potential. Wherein it is important to differ the distribution law of hydrocarbon accumulations from that of the petroleum fields. It is shown that if hydrocarbon accumulation mass distribution of petroleum basin is governed by the truncated Pareto distribution then distribution of petroleum fileds of the basin cannot be described by the same law. Using probability theory analytical methods as well as statistical analysis methods and statistical data processing allowed establishing the law of hydrocarbon fileds mass distribution provided that hydrocarbon accumulation distribution is governed by the truncated Pareto law. Received probability distribution is modeless and close to be power-series although strictly speaking it is not the case.
