pdf Late Tournaisian shallow-water sequenses of the eastern part of Timan-Pechora Province (Kozhva River)
The shallow-water Upper Tournaisian sequences of the eastern part of Timan-Pechora petroleum Province were studied with biostratigraphical (based on foraminifers, conodonts, and brachiopods) and isotope stratigraphical methods. Poor conodont associations containing Siphonodella obsoleta Hass and S. cooperi Hass are characteristic of this stratigraphic interval in the shallow-water facies. Foraminifer associations are very variable: some of them are composed of numerous late Tournaisian species (Kozhva River section), but some associations comprise just species of wide stratigraphic range. The prominent global positive shift in the carbonate carbon isotope record marks the upper Tournaisian in the region. This shift is considered as reliable stratigraphical marker.

pdf Perspectives of application of isotope-stratigraphy (δ13Ccarb) for correlation of the Upper Devonian – Carboniferous interval of the east of Timan-Pechora Province
Perspectives of application of the δ13Ccarb - based isotope stratigraphy for regional stratigraphy of the Timan-Pechora Province are considered. Global shifts in δ13Ccarb value, which promise reliable stratigraphical levels, are selected: positive shifts at the Middle/Upper Devonian boundary, in the middle and upper Frasnian, terminal Famennian, upper Tournaisian, near the Visean/Serpukhovian boundary, and in the lower part of the Bashkirian. Some of these shifts had been detected in the Timan-Pechora sequences earlier and are dated with biostratigraphy. The main task of the future researches is obtaining reliable information on primary variations of δ13Ccarb in the sequences of the regional strata.
