Barents Sea basin is one of the largest Russian petroleum basins with proven productivity. Jurassic complex is promising for new discoveries; however its structure is still unstudied. New seismic data collected in Russian and Norwegian sectors of the Barents Sea, have enabled to identify the area of distribution of the Jurassic oil and gas complex, evaluate its capacity, follow the direction of drift of sediment and establish a change in sedimentation. Comprehensive analysis of the regional structure of the Jurassic oil and gas complex together with detailed studies on specific areas enable to forecast the distribution zones of Jurassic reservoirs on the structures of Barents Sea shelf and assess petroleum potential prospects.
