pdf  Gas hydrates - unconventional gas sources, their formation, properties, distribution and geological resources
An overview of information on gas hydrates in land and offshore deposits as a potential unconventional source of hydrocarbons is provided. The attention to such type of unconventional hydrocarbon resources is associated with the fact that its volume is significantly greater than the volume of other species. The basic properties of gas hydrates as well as geophysical and geochemical conditions that determine the possibility of their formation and preservation in sedimentary strata are analyzed. The assessment of gas hydrates resource in Russia and in the world is presented.

Key words: gas hydrates, unconventional hydrocarbon source, free gas, gas fields, geological resources, mining technology.
