The conditions of forming the local objects prospective for oil in the Kaliningrad region are analyzed by the example of the Kravtsovskoye oil field. In studying the history of tectonic development of local structures, the method of a thickness analysis is used as the basis for researches. This method is one of the most important methods of paleotectonic researches, it makes possible to give not only qualitative but also the quantitative estimation of tectonic movements. The results of conducted paleotectonic researches confirm the prolonged history of forming the oil traps of a dominating complex connected with the tectonic development of the whole Kaliningrad region. The major stage of forming the potential structures prospective for oil falls on the final stage of Caledonian tectogenesis.
Key words: Kaliningrad region, Baltic oil region, paleotectonic analysis, structures prospective for oil, tectonics, local uplifts, traps.
